Just posting up the few videos Ive been watching to study walk cycles.
I first studied the walk cycle Sarah Piedot did for her 2D walk cycle, as I really couldn't get to grip with 2D so I thought it be the best place to start.
With 2D I didn't get any tests done, as I really couldn't get the hang of it, I tried my best just trying to get something done to hand it a few weeks back. After handing in my attemp of 2D I moved my attention to 3D.
I still looked at afew other videos, like the following. In this I could see how this characters hair and clothes were affected by his movement.
Only thing I dislike about this video, the whole cycle feels too robotic there is much movements in the joints...
Lastly for 2D walk cycles I looked at this video:
I found this show me how limber the joints and movement of a cartoon walkcycle can be. I really like the change of pace as well, giving a sense of personailty to the charater.
I started looking at 3D Maya walk cycles. The first result I found on Youtube proved to be helpful in studing the walk cycle:
With the three different angles showed at once I could really see how each joint should look at each different step of the walk cycle.
I found many female 3D walk cycles on youtube, but there didn't help me really. As I was using Barry a female walk cycle wouldn't of fitted with him, as males and females walk differently. After refining my search I found this video:
Which shows a average guy walk really well and I use it when rigging Barry. In hopes of giving Barry much more of a male walk.
